On Changing My Mind

Well now that I’ve learned so much, I can see how I would design my website differently. I am a little dissapointed that my sub menue headings jump around a bit – and not too pleased with the way my main menue text is not aligned properly with the buttons. I would very much like to re-slice my design so that each button is a ‘button’ and do away with the ‘listamatic’ navigation list. Perhaps when my brain has recovered I will have another go at it

On Getting Too Smug!!!

Well there I was – feeling all self satisfied, site all done and uploaded, only to find that I forgot to test in Internet Explorer!!! which is not working so well – damit!
It’s OK – don’t panic, just an issue with screen resolution, phew! so it’s just a matter of tweeking a few design elements and I’m all done. Now that we have come this far, I can see how I would change my overall design, maybe I will re-do the whole concept in a few months time?????

OMG – Linky Link RSI

I think I am developing tennis elbow from too much mouse work!!! I have twelve pages to my site, some with quite a few images……..Thinks I might have to pay a bit more for hosting?……..gulp! Something else I’ve noticed, when working on your html, if you muck about a bit while highlighting something, the curser suddenly jumps to another part of the document!!?? Has anyone else noticed this finominum….phinomynum………phen…..urrmmmm…..funny thing. It’s Very frustrating.

Wholey Crap!!!!!

And by that I mean -this web design thing is a whole lot of crap!!!! Especially when you cannot get things to stay where you want. I am finding that if you have a rest and come back to it with fresh eyes, it can help a lot. For some reason my content is not automatically pushing down my page? My footer is cutting it off. So I tried to insert another div id inside the content div, but the original hieght setting kept overwriting the new one so I removed the main content div and restyled a complete new one just for this particular page, had a few issue with margins, but somehow they have corrected themselves???? Don’t ask me how?

I tried the google keyword tool and came up with some good results:
Multi Media Artist was 3600 x Global and 170x local, but even better was
Mixed media artist with 4400 x global and 1600 x local.
So I will be using both phrases in my artist statement.

Down to the Nitty Gritty

Well so far so good, page design confirmed and sliced ready to go. Now would be a good time to re-evaluate and decide exactly how I want to arrange my content manifest items, including some individual page layouts.

Ahhh Ha!!!

It was not my id description at all – sloppy me! I had forgotten to put on the closing curly bracket!!!! One tiny little thing makes it all better. Now I am puzzeling over how to position my sub menue and content box on the page, have read about ‘absolute’ positioning and tried to insert the code as html but nothing is moving so must be doing something wrong????? Ah well it’s Thursday tomorrow, will get in early and take a number – I suspect our Tutor will be in the hot seat for the next few weeks!! haha

Even More Trickier Stuff

Well don’t we all just love “listamatic.com” (I know I should have that linked but, heck I’ve just spent an hour browsing and choosing” and having chosen my lists, I spent another hour manipulating them to get the list items to sit where I wanted them!!!!!!!! only to have it all dissapear in a puff of smoke when I started to manipulate my second menue????? I suspect it may be to do with my “id’ descriptions????HeeeeeeeeellllllllllllP!

Tricky Stuff

Well I finally settled on a page design for my website (after many trials) I chose a rather ordinary text for the header, partly because it echoed the koru patterns in my design and partly because I coudn’t get the fonts I wanted to download properly from dafont.com!!!!!!
I decided to go with the button menue because it is more streamlined, even though I really like the colours on the other page, it may have been a bit too much.

Don’t you just love the humour in these tutorials!!! Am slowly chugging my way through the exercises on this site, basic level seems to be OK, I have managed to make a page and apply some css, so far so good. I think coding just might suit my pedantic, perfectionist type A personality!!!! Who’d a thunk it!?
